Floyd Schofield retained his World Boxing Association (WBA) International lightweight belt with a disqualification win over Esteuri Suero on Saturday night during their bout at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.

The fight ended in the fifth round after the Dominican fighter landed repeated low blows in the early rounds.

Schofield made a dominant fight despite the insistent Suero, who came out with a lot of motivation but was overcome by that momentum to end up disqualified.

It was another victory for the American fighter, who retained his regional crown of the pioneer organization and continues on his way as one of the best prospects in the category.

Schofield won his 17th fight, is undefeated and has knocked out 12 opponents. Suero, meanwhile, improved his record to 13 wins and 2 losses.
