On Friday night in Australia, Simpiwe Vetyeka put an end to the longest reign in boxing in the hands of the Indonesian Chris John, who was the World Boxing Association super featherweight champion.
Vetyeka complicated the experienced opponent, who had serious problems in the fifth round and touched the canvas in the sixth. This made John decide to not come out in the seventh round, to mark his first defeat in his impeccable record, until then, 48 wins with 3 draws and 22 KO.
The new champion of the WBA, Vetyeka has a record of 27-2, 15 KO’s, and dedicated his triumph to the newly deceased Nobel Prize and former South African President, Nelson Mandela.
