Tewa Kiram faced Mohammed Zekria Zamani in a rematch fight and retained his World Boxing Association (WBA) Asian super welterweight belt at the SpacePlus Bangkok RCA in Thailand’s capital.
The judges’ scorecards were wide in favor of the home fighter. At the end of the 10 rounds, a unanimous decision was reached 99-90, 99-90 and 98-91.
Kiram had already faced Zekria Zamani just in the bout in which he won the belt in July last year. He defeated the Afghan on the cards and was crowned continental champion. Now he gave Zekria Zamani a second chance and repeated history with another dominant performance.
The Thai is one of his country’s most prominent fighters in his era and has scored big wins, plus he made it to the big American market a few years ago when he took on Lucas Matthysse.
With his new victory, Kiram reached 49 wins, 1 loss and 34 knockouts. Zekria Zamani has 5 wins and 2 losses.
