The World Boxing Association (WBA) made a donation to the Salvadoran Amateur Boxing Federation on Thursday morning, November 16, in San Salvador, El Salvador. The event was part of the KO Drugs program, which is taking place in the Central American country.
Colombians Fidel Bassa, former WBA world champion, and Sergio Chams, President of the company Cuadrilátero, gave the material to the local authorities in representation of the body. For this reason, Herson Linares, President of Fersabox, José Alberto Quesada, President of the Sports Institute of El Salvador (INDES), and Oscar Canjura, President of the Salvadoran Boxing Association (Asabox) thanked the WBA for the initiative and especially its President, Gilberto Jesús Mendoza.
“I am very proud of being part of the World Boxing Association, this had never been seen in our countries and now it is happening. The WBA Academy mixes education and sport, and I believe that the WBA is doing it very well. There is no doubt that, as Gilberto Jesús Mendoza says, boxing is a vehicle for social improvement”, said Bassa, who supports the body in its programs of social responsibility.
The donation that was made consists of sport implements such as: punching bags, gloves, head guards, punch mitts and mouthpieces, so the boxers of the selection of El Salvador can train with greater comfort.
Thus, the WBA keeps its word of supporting boxing in the regions, always demonstrating that Boxing is a vehicle for social improvement.
