New WBA/IBF super-middleweight ruler Carl Froch might not have too much time to celebrate his excellent, revenge win over Mikkel Kessler before “The Cobra” has to think about who he will fight next. Already there is talk of another rematch, this one with the unbeaten and highly skilled Andre Ward, as well as of a third war with Kessler. Froch, 31-2(22) has spoken about both possible fights taking place next.

“I said before this fight that the winner should really be concentrating on moving on and my only other loss was against pound-for-pound number-two in the world Andre Ward,” Froch told Talk Sport. “He’s not exciting but if we fight again, in the UK, it will be exciting. What a fantastic fighter he is and a great, great champion, but he is there to be beaten. But not over in America – let’s get him over here.”

For his part, Ward, 26-0(14) told Sky Sports that he is open to the rematch, but that it would have to be in America.

“I don’t know how bad he wants it,” Ward said of Froch and a potential return fight. “There’s a lot of talk about what he wants and where he wants it. First and foremost, America is where you’ve got to come to become a star. You can be a great domestic fighter but if you want to be a worldwide fighter you have got to stake your claim there [in America]. That being said, if Eddie Hearn and Froch really want it, ‘Eddie, pick up the phone, call my manager and let’s talk about it.’

“The UK is not out of the question. I don’t have to come here. We may do it in the U.S, but phone up and let’s talk about it if you’re serious.”

Ward, who is expected back in the ring late this summer after having had shoulder surgery, has vowed to stop Froch in a rematch. But it’s possible Froch will face archrival Kessler in a rubber-match next instead.

“If there is a third fight it would have to be on neutral territory,” Froch said this morning. “I will listen to options and whoever I fight next it will have to be a defining fight. Stylistically, we make good fights. I think I dominated him [Kessler] behind the jab and I don’t know if he really wants a third fight.”

It remains to be seen whether or not Kessler, 46-3(35) will want to fight again or call time on his great career. But whoever Froch fights next, it’s sure to be a hot ticket. Time and again, “The Cobra” has sent fans home happy with his all-action style!
