The World Boxing Association has sanctioned two world title bouts for this weekend.

In its desire to support the development of regional boxing, there will be championship bouts in Sahagun, Colombia, and Windhoek, Namibia.

On Saturday, June 11, WBA World female super bantamweight champion Liliana Palmera (26-11-3, 16 KOs), “La Tigresa” from Monteria, Colombia, defends her title against Jessica “La Magnifica” Gonzalez (6-1-1, 1 KO), the tough up-and-comer from Mexico City, Mexico.

Palmera turned pro in 1999. She was a credible title challenger for many years. That changed in 2014 when she decisioned Ana Maria Lozano in Barranquilla to win the interim title. “La Tigresa” successfully defended the WBA interim title three times and was elevated to champion after the super champion became pregnant.

Her challenger is coming to fight. Jessica Gonzalez hasn’t lost since 2012. It will be her first shot at a world title.

The fight against “La Magnifica” will be Palmera’s first defense of her new crown.

Also on Saturday, at the other end of the globe, at Ramatax Factory in Namibia, WBA World interim bantamweight champion Moises “Chucky” Flores (24-0, 17 KOs), the undefeated knockout artist from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, defends his title against Paulus “The Rock” Ambunda (24-1, 10 KOs), the warrior from Swakopmund, Namibia.

Flores won the title in April when he defeated Colombian Oscar Escandon via split decision. In his last fight, the first defense of his title, “Chucky” TKO’d Argentine Luis Manuel Cusulito in the 12th and final round..

Ambunda is a world-class fighter. He lost his WBO belt by unanimous decision to Tomoki Kameda (27-0 at the time) in 2013. In his next fight Ambunda won the vacant WBA International super bantamweight title. He has gone 4-0 since the loss to Kameda.
