Oleksandr Usyk won the World Boxing Association (WBA) Boxer of the Month award after his victory last week over Daniel Dubois at the Stadion Wrocław in Poland.
The WBA August rankings are already published in the corresponding section of the web portal and with them the individual awards for the eighth month of the year. In addition to Usyk, Otar Eranosyan was also recognized with the Honorable Mention.
Usyk knocked out Dubois in the ninth round after a fight in which he had to work hard and recover from a low blow to win. It was the second defense for the Ukrainian, who is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world today and remains at the top of his game.
For his part, Eranosyan defeated Roger Gutierrez by knockout last August 9 in Florida during their super featherweight eliminator fight. The Georgian survived an early knockdown but was able to overwhelm the Venezuelan and take a convincing win despite that.
The organization congratulates both fighters for their great performances during the month of August and invites all those interested in checking the rankings to do so at the WBA official website.
