Victor Morales easily resolved a fight that on paper was supposed to be evenly matched. The “Tornado” finished his fight against Diego De La Hoya in just two rounds and became the new World Boxing Association (WBA) Intercontinental Featherweight Champion this weekend.
The co-main event of the Golden Boy Promotions event on Saturday at the College Park Center in Arlington, Texas, had one main character and that was Morales, who defeated an experienced opponent like De La Hoya, who has been a WBA Gold champion and has fought in eliminator fights in the past.
For Morales it is a very important victory as he has become known to more of the public and has moved up in his career. The Washington native captured the vacant regional belt to steal the show at the event.
He reached 18 career wins with one draw and nine knockouts, while De La Hoya dropped his record to 24 wins, 2 losses and 11 knockouts.
