Argentina’s Jazmin Villarino retained her World Boxing Association (WBA) Gold minimumweight crown with a unanimous decision win over Mexico’s Judith Vivanco on Saturday in Coyoacan, Mexico.
The South American got cards of 98-92, 98-93 and 98-92 after 10 rounds of action in which she got an insistent challenger but could dominate thanks to her boxing and intelligence.
Vivanco showed the motivation she had to win forward in the fight with a relentless attack to which the champion had to adapt. However, the “Jefa” showed her tools and preferred to take distance to connect her rival with good jabs and keep control of the fight during almost all its development.
It was a fight in which Villarino showed her best boxing and secured an important victory for her career. The 31-year-old now has 6 wins, 1 loss, 2 draws and 1 knockout, while Vivanco’s record dropped to 10 wins, 5 losses and 1 draw.
