El 29 de Febrero en el Hotel Intercontinental Miramar Panamá
Prensa AMB. 26 de Enero.-Después de cuatro años, se realizará nuevamente la Cena Anual de Premiación de la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo, que en esta oportunidad se llevará a cabo en el Hotel Intercontinental Miramar Panamá, en la Ciudad de Panamá, el próximo 29 de Febrero de 2012, a las 8:00 pm.
La intención no sólo es rescatar el importante evento, sino también el de resaltar el desempeño profesional de todos los galardonados en esta oportunidad.
En un principio las cenas se hacían en los Estados Unidos, luego fue a Venezuela y Argentina, pero se realizaron hasta el año 2008, la entrega de premios y reconocimientos a los mejores del año anterior se realizaban en este tipo de evento, que por diferentes razones se fue perdiendo y se continuaron entregando durante las Convenciones Anuales.
“Queremos avocarnos un poquito más a los boxeadores, darle ese premio, tener una forma de buscar el acercamiento que es uno de los objetivos planteado para este año”, detalló el vicepresidente ejecutivo de la AMB, Gilberto Jesús Mendoza, durante el anuncio del evento.
“Estamos convencidos que por ser diferentes ceremonias debemos retomar la tradición y este es el momento oportuno de hacerlo”, enfatizó.
Los mejores del 2011, serán los protagonistas de esta ceremonia que contará con importantes invitados especiales entre los que esperamos contar a campeones actuales, además de leyendas del boxeo mundial como Andre Ward, Felix Sturm, Miguel Cotto, Chris Jones, Anselmo Moreno, Román González, Juan Carlos Reveco, Wladimir Klitschko, además del ex campeón Roberto “Manos de Piedra” Durán.
Para lograr el éxito total de la celebración de la Cena de Premiación, hemos abierto un proceso de elección en diferentes renglones, aunque los que están abiertos al público en general y la prensa especializada no serán todos los que finalmente se harán entrega.
Además de dar el reconocimiento al Boxeador y Boxeadora del Año, se entregarán premios por la Pelea del Año, la Pelea más Dramática, KO del Año, Boxeador de la Década, Regreso del año, Sorpresa del Año, Revelación del 2011, Boxeador Prospecto, entre otros.
También, se brindará reconocimientos especiales a los patrocinadores del boxeo, medios y a quienes apoyaron al deporte de los puños durante el 2011.
Mendoza recordó que en la página web www.wbanews.com está publicada la encuesta para seleccionar algunos de los premios, y que el proceso está abierto hasta el 17 de febrero.
“Para esa cena tenemos pensado no solo la entrega de los premios, sino también compartir un poco con los campeones que vienen. Estamos pensando, no está todavía confirmado, la animación de grupos musicales internacionales, entre los locales estamos pensando con Los Rabanes, y también los venezolanos Chino y Nacho”, finalizó Mendoza.

WBA Press. January 26.- After four years the World Boxing Association will host again the Annual Awards Dinners, in the Intercontinental Miramar Hotel in Panama City, on February 29, 2012 at 8:00 pm.
The idea is not only to rescue this important event, but to highlight the professional performance of all the awardees.
These dinners began in the United States, later, they were held in Venezuela, Argentina, and then stopped in 2008. Then due to different reasons they awards to the best of the previous year were given during the Annual Conventions.
“We want to advocate a bit more to the boxers; we want to get closer to them, that is one of our objectives this year”, said the WBA Executive Vice-president, Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, when announcing the event.
“We are convinced that this is an icon and this is the right time to bring it back to life”, he said.
In this colorful event the awardees will be the best of 2011, that will be accompanied by very important boxing figures, such as boxing legends and hopefully Andre Ward, Felix Sturm, Miguel Cotto, Chris Jones, Anselmo Moreno, Roman Gonzalez, Juan Carlos Reveco, Wladimir Klitschko, and of course the famous Panamanian World Champion Roberto “Hands of Stone” Duran.
To achieve the success of this event, we opened an election process to the public and press on the different areas, although they are not all the awards that will be given.
Besides the Boxer and the Female Boxer of the Year, the Fight of the Year, the most dramatic fight, the KO of Year, the Boxer of the Decade, Comeback of the Year, Surprise of the Year, 2011 Revelation, the Rooky of the Year, among others.
Boxing Sponsors, media and all those who supported boxing 2011 will also be given a special recognition.
