The World Boxing Association (WBA) Championships Committee ordered an elimination bout in the Bantamweight division between Venezuelan Yonfrez Parejo and American Stephon Young.
Parejo is number one in the 118-pound ranking, and he stepped in the ring last September 23 to beat Elkin Rosario. The Venezuelan has a record of 21 wins, 2 losses, one draw and 10 knockouts.
On the other hand, Young is in the fourth place of the WBA ranking in the category. He had his last fight on May 12, 2017, against Antwan Robertson and has a record of 17 wins, no losses, 3 draws and 7 knockouts.
Both parties were notified on November 21 and have 30 days to reach an agreement. If they don’t, the fight will be called to a purse bid.
