The World Boxing Association (WBA) mourns the passing of legendary referee Steve Smoger on Monday, December 19 at the age of 72.
The sports world learned of the unfortunate passing of Smoger through social media, one of the best in his profession and remembered by thousands of fans.
Smoger was born in Atlantic City and began his career as a professional referee in 1984. He was in more than 200 world championship fights, including Trinidad-Hopkins, Ward-Augustus, Forrest- Mosley, Jones Jr.-Hopkins, among others.
