The World Boxing Association family mourns the sensitive pass away of Luis Rivera, affectionately known as “Altar boy”.
Always cheerful, loyal, supportive, friendly and important member of the WBA family “Monaguillo” was always friendly, helping whoever needed it, and asked for his help and was very professional international official.
He debuted as WBA judge in 1984 and as referee in 1986, although he was refereeing since 1978.
“Sad news, he was a very cheerful and talkative, a great dancer. Good friend and very supportive. May he Rest in peace”, said Gilberto Mendoza, WBA president.
The funeral services will be held in San Antonio, Texas, where he died. We send our heartfelt words of condolence to the family of Luis Rivera.
