In 2013, the World Boxing Association sanctioned a total of 16 intercontinental and 11 international fights, as well as five continental title bouts.
These regional fights joined the 66 world title fights held in 2013, 30 were regular title, 8 super champions, 9 unifications and 19 interim titles.
19 of those fights ended by TKO; two of them were Golovkin’s when he retired Gabriel Rosado in the ninth round on January 19 in New York. Golovkin’s second TKO was on November 2 at the Madison Square Garden to Curtis Stevens.
Nine world championship fights ended by KO and, again, two of them were Golovkin’s, both of them in the third round. The first was in Monaco to Nobuiro Ishida on March 30 and the second in Connecticut to Matthew Macklin on June 29.
