The Puerto Rican native Alberto Machado and the American native Yuandale Evans had no problem making weight on the scales for their fight this Saturday at the Hulu Theater of Madison Square Garden in New York. The bout will be for the super featherweight championship of the World Boxing Association.
Machado, who will be the favorite to defend his crown, stepped on the electronic scale at exactly 130 pounds allowed by the weight class, while Evans weighed in at 129.4 pounds, just below the limit, in lieu of the most important fight of his career in an evening of Matchroom Boxing, DiBella Entertainment, and Cotto Promotions that will be broadcast on HBO.
Machado (20-0, 16 KOs) comes from beating Ghana’s Rafael Mensah in his mandatory fight and has decided to give the opportunity to Evans (20-1, 14 KOs), a dynamite fighter with his fists, who will try to improve his winning streak to five fights.
On the same card, the former WBA Middleweight champion, Daniel Jacobs, will face the Ukrainian native Sergiy Derevyanchenko in a fight for the IBF middleweight strap, while Heather Hardy and Shelly Vincent will go for the WBO featherweight title, also within the televised part of the show.
