After their face to face this Tuesday at the Nottingham Stadium, World Boxing Association (WBA) featherweight champion Leigh Wood and his challenger Mauricio Lara, met today, Wednesday, the Media Day organized by Matchroom Boxing.

It is a promotional event in which they are interviewed by the press, participate in photo shoots and share experiences. Both Wood and Lara looked quite relaxed and enjoying the moment, but full of confidence ahead of the fight they will have next Saturday.

“Everything happens for a reason,” said the champion about the injury that forced him to postpone the fight, which was initially scheduled to be in September 2022. “I’m much better prepared now for this fight. Mauricio Lara suits me stylistically.”

For his part, the Mexican also spoke to the media and looked very focused on keeping the black and gold belt this weekend: “If Leigh Wood thinks he’s the devil, I’ll take him down by the horns”.

This Thursday will be the official pre-fight press conference and on Friday they will step on the scales at the weigh-in ceremony. The atmosphere in Nottingham is still on fire with a new presentation of Wood and against a powerful and determined opponent like the Mexican.
