Aidos Yerbossynuly knocked out Lennox Allen in the tenth round to win their World Boxing Association (WBA) super middleweight eliminator fight held Sunday at the Nursultan Jekpe-Jek Arena in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The strong local fighter had to work hard against an opponent who did not make it easy for him at any time. In fact, the Guyanese stood toe to toe and hit Yerbossynuly hard during several passages of the fight.
It was a fight with many exchanges and good action that the Kazakh knew how to solve thanks to his strength. In fact, Allen had hurt the local fighter at the beginning of the tenth round, but the winner was able to keep his cool and regain his dominance.
In an action in which Yerbossynuly had Allen against the ropes, he was able to connect a right straight followed by a left hook and sent him to the canvas. The Guyanese, visibly beaten, heard the referee’s count with no desire to get up. It was the first time Allen had received a knockout in his career.
Yerbossynuly, 29, remains undefeated in 16 fights, 11 of them won before the limit. For his part, Allen dropped his record to 22 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw and 14 knockouts.
