Yohei Tobe and Luzuko Siyo face off tonight over a scheduled 12 rounds for the vacant WBA Inter-Continental super flyweight belt at the Orient Theatre in East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
Tobe, who’ll turn 29 on April 27, is a five-year pro (9-2-1, 5 KOs) who fights out of Tokyo. He won the vacant Japanese super flyweight title in April 2014 by stopping Taiki Eto via ninth-round TKO, a title he lost to Sho Ishida by unanimous decision four months later. He most recently fought last December, beating Ryan Bito by unanimous decision.
His South African opponent is an eight-year ring vet (15-3, 12 KOs) who won the vacant IBO Inter-Continental light flyweight title in June 2014 by retiring Macrea Gandionco in the fifth, a title he lost six months later to Raymond Tabugon by unanimous decision. Siyo most recently fought last November, knocking out Reginaldo Martins Carvalho in the first.
