The Boxing Hall of Fame of Canastota, N.Y., announced the new immortals that will be inducted in June 2015.
Among the new immortals are Yoko Gushiken (1976-1981light flyweight champion), posthumous Masao Ohba (1971-1973 WBA flyweight champion), Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini (1982 -1984 WBA Lightweight Champion) and Riddick Bowe (1992-1993 WBA heavyweight champion), all of them were proud world champions of the World Boxing Association.
Bowe, Mancini and Naseem Hamed entered in the line of modern ones. Gushiken, Ohba and Ken Overlin entered as has old glories.
Publicist John Condon, the Mexican manager Rafael Mendoza, referee Steve Smoger, the journalist Nigel Collins and producer Jim Lampley.
The calendar of events in Canastota will take place from June 11 to 14.
“I am very concerned that the names of great Latin-American fighters are not taken into account for the choice of the new hall of famers. Latino boxing figures who are part of the history of the sport have been left aside of the latest elections”, said Gilberto Jesús Mendoza, Vice President of the WBA.
He also stressed that the “WBA family is proud of having new Immortals as Gushiken, Ohba,”Boom Boom” Mancini and Riddick Bowe who who were proud holders of the black belt and gold belt”.
