WBA Super Welterweight champion Yuri Foreman is counting down the days until he steps in the ring with former two division title-holder Miguel Cotto at Yankee Stadium in New York. The June 5 clash is the first bout at Yankee Stadium since 1976. Foreman is so pumped, he could fight Cotto tomorrow.
“I feel good knowing that the day is approaching. I understand that we both have to work to be well prepared for the fight, but I would love to do it tomorrow,” Foreman told Primera Hora.
“It will be an honor to fight in the new Yankee Stadium with a great former champion like Cotto. I am pleased with the progress of my training and I plan to represent my people in the ring.”
Foreman won the title from Daniel Santos last November. He says the title around his waist has not changed anything in the house.
“My wife still makes me take out the trash at night. So being a world champion has not changed my life. I still have meet my responsibilities as a husband. I was able to keep the attention I received under control,” Foreman said.
