The World Boxing Association (WBA) Centennial Convention will split history in two halves and will be a very important event for the sport. With 30 days to go before it begins on December 11 at the Caribe Royale Hotel in Orlando, expectations are growing.
It will be an opportunity to analyze the present of boxing, review what needs to be improved and strengthen what is working, while reviewing more than 100 years of history of the pioneer organization, born in 1921 in the United States.
The goal of the organization and its president Gilberto Jesús Mendoza is to take the past and the present to plan for the future of the discipline and for boxing to continue to grow in the world arena.
One of the main topics to be discussed will be the World Title Reduction Plan, a project in which the WBA has put all its efforts and which has so far yielded great results. On the other hand, the Medical Committee will analyze in depth the issue of mental health that has affected many fighters today and needs to be reviewed in search of solutions.
The convention will feature important guests such as Roberto Durán, Marco Antonio Barrera, Bernard Hopkins, Marcos Maidana, Miguel Cotto, among other great figures who will be present in Orlando at the event that will conclude on December 14.
The WBA has started the countdown for its convention and the closer the event gets, the more it will continue to announce activities, guests and many more surprises for the most ambitious convention in the history of the sport.
