The World Boxing Association (WBA) Medical Seminar at the Centennial Convention was one of the most significant in recent years because it addressed the present and urgent issue of mental health.
Specialists Nina Radcliff, Shivana Inalsigh, Adriana Valbuena and Joseph Estwanik, were accompanied by the testimony of the great Bernard Hopkins in a series of presentations and talks on causes, consequences and ways to address different characteristics of mental health.
Each of the speakers at the seminar, which was well attended by the audience, gave a great presentation with extensive explanations and different approaches. Hopkins’ speech, who motivated the audience in a special way, also stood out.
On the other hand, it was the ideal opportunity for the host, Claudia Trejo, to present the book “Todos Somos Culpables”, by the Colombian writer and journalist Alberto Agámez, which tells the story of Tomas Molinares and how a mental condition affected the career of the former world champion.
They also talked about how mental issues in fighters that act silently, as was the case of the Colombian, in which no one realized it until it was too late.
Mental health is a topic that will continue to be addressed by the WBA with the support of specialists and the testimony of those who have suffered different problems in their careers.
