While waiting for news on dates and regulations for the qualifying events for the Tokyo Olympics, several teams have started to work towards the entire road and, of course, the big event. Cuba is always one of the favorites and its work has already started with several protocols against Covid-19.
The Holveín Quesada National Boxing School, located in the Popular Council of Wajay, serves as a shelter for the members of “Domadores” on their road to preparation and qualifiers at Buenos Aires, Argentina.
They have a concentration with two fighters per category under a “Bubble” format and are accompanied by the entire Cuban technical team, led by Rolando Acebal.
“We do not go outside the facility, nor are personnel from outside the School allowed in. Four days ago we carried out a PCR test on all the workers and athletes and fortunately they all tested negative,” the team doctor, Rafael Lerena Napoles, told Radio Rebelde.
“They are in optimal health conditions. After the results of the medical, sociological and pedagogical tests that we have carried out, we have verified that they are gradually improving their sports form”, he continued.
The Cubans trained with Kazakhstan a couple of weeks ago and assured they were satisfied with the work done, which will help them in their preparation and also to study a power with which they will surely meet in Tokyo. Now they will continue with the following phases in search of reaching the optimum level for the challenges that lie ahead.
