René Alvarado will defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Featherweight crown on December 5th against Roger Gutierrez. The fight will take place at the Fantasy Springs Casino, in Indio, California and will be one of the most important of the evening.
Alvarado and Gutierrez already faced each other in July 2017 and the first one was victorious. The Nicaraguan led Gutierrez to retire in the seventh round to win the fight in Los Angeles.
Now, Alvarado comes as World Champion. Since then, the 31-year-old boxer has won six fights in a row, including the most recent one against Andrew Cancio, in which he won the black and gold belt.
But for Gutiérrez there are also a number of positive changes since the last time they met. The 25-year-old Venezuelan boxer has stringed together five victories since 2018, defeating good rivals such as prospect Rocky Hernandez, whom he beat by KO in one round last year.
Both fighters started their preparations several weeks ago and have their sights set on the championship. Alvarado has a record of 32 wins, 8 losses, and 21 KOs, while Gutiérrez has 24 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw, and 20 KOs.
