Elin Cederroos arrived to United States for the first time for a unification bout against Alicia Napoleon, and she shook the world and pulled up the upset to become the new WBA super middleweight champion. The Swedish went into a war against the New York native, Cederroos won by unanimous decision with the three judges scoring the fight 95-94 in a very close and competitive slugfest.
The European came to the fight as the IBF champion, and now she also possesses the prestigious black and gold belt after having 10 tough rounds with a great boxer like Napoleon. In spite of being the beginning of the 2020 calendar in WBA fights both warriors gave us a great performance, and from now it is a fight of the year candidate in the female boxing.
The difference took place in the second round, when Cederroos connected a tremendous left hand upstairs which sent Napoleon to sit on the ropes receiving the count by the referee. The accuracy and the power of the visitor fighter surprised the local one since the beginning, which dominated especially the first half of the fight.
The combat was full of trading blows, and each fighter had their moments. The strength of both fighters was superb, and it manifested in their faces showing the signs of a relentless battle. Napoleon spent a large part of the fight with a cut on her left eyebrow, while Cederroos suffered at the end of the bout, fighting with a bloody nose due to the punishment received by her rival.

Napoleon, who lost the title in her third defense now has a record of 12 wins, 2 losses and 7 KO.
