Ireland’s Katie Taylor was named World Boxing Association (WBA) Female Boxer of the Month for May after retaining her Lightweight belt against England’s Natasha Jones on May 1st.
Taylor holds the WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO belts. She returned to the ring at the beginning of May for another high-level bout against Jones, an opponent who made her night difficult in a beautiful women’s boxing match.
In the end, Taylor used her tools and did things better to take the unanimous decision of 96-94, 96-95, and 96-95. The 34-year-old fighter made the ninth defense of her black and gold title, which she has held since October 2017 in a reign that has already surpassed three years and in the course of which she has measured herself against the best in the world.
