After some date changes, finally the fight between Nazarena Romero (10-0-0, 4KOs) fatamarca, and Julieta Cardozo (12-5-0, 1KO) from Jujuy, that was initially scheduled for March, has been agreed. The WBA Interim title at 122 pounds will be at stake on December 5th at the Chess Club of La Calera City, in Córdoba, Argentina.
Nazarena “Capricho” Romero had an active 2019 with five successful fights, including the victory over Marianela Soledad Ramírez to win the South American belt, and later she won the Argentinean title by defeating a tough fighter like Laura Soledad Griffa.
“Capricho” is undefeated and feels at her best condition after her preparation with her coaching team.
On the other hand, Julieta “La Zorrita” Cardozo comes from two consecutive defeats against two of her compatriots during the past year. In 2019, she made three fights in the bantamweight division. On May 25th she won the Argentinean title by defeating Jennifer Rasjido by TKO in the fourth round. Later, she lost to World Champion Cecilia Román in August, and in December she lost the National title to Lara Altamirano.
Romero knows that she will meet an experienced boxer who has tested herself against outstanding athletes in the Argentinean ring. However, she is confident that her preparation will be accompanied by a strategy that she hopes to develop with skill to nullify Cardozo’s boxing.
Both Argentine boxers are included in the WBA world ranking: Romero is in the fourth place while Cardozo is Nº 7. The Super Bantamweight category is reigned by Venezuelan Mayerlin Rivas.
