A new triumph for the undisputed 135-pound champion. Katie Taylor managed to beat the British Natasha Jonas in ten rounds and retained the World Boxing Association belt after the unanimous decision of the judges at the Manchester Arena in the United Kingdom.
With very close cards, the judges had to open their eyes wide when scoring the fight as there were chapters in which the actions were close and giving advantages to both boxers.
Katie Taylor was very fast in her offensive advances which led her to leave many free spaces that were well used by Jonas, who was looking to counterattack to the lower areas mostly. The last rounds were undoubtedly the most exciting: the fight moved to the center of the ring with a greater blow exchange where Taylor’s speed and volume of punches prevailed.
This was a great test for the two fighters who already knew each other from their great amateur past. The Irish boxer has already declared that she seeks to measure herself against the best in the world. With this new victory, Taylor continues to be the owner of the WBA black and gold belt along with the WBO, IBF, and WBC versions in the lightweight division.
