With an enormous decision, Nazarena Romero (11-0) was crowned the new World Boxing Association Interim Super Bantamweight Champion by defeating Julieta Cardozo (12-6), a native of Jujuy, Argentina, by TKO in the second round. The fight took place on Saturday night at the Chess Club, in La Calera, Córdoba province, Argentina.
The native of Catamarca had a good start and made a difference with precision and a perfect left hook. During the second round, the boxer nicknamed “la Capricho” advanced with determination in her attack, applying punishment with a combination of continuous blows to her rival Cardozo. Immediately, the referee Gerardo Poggi stopped the actions to decree the TKO in favor of the Córdoba native.
Nazarena Romero obtained this victory after having achieved the Argentine and South American titles in 2019 against her compatriot Laura Griffa on December 12th. Now as WBA Interim Super Bantamweight Champion, she is shaping up to be among the best pound-for-pound boxers.
