HIGHLIGHTS OF WBA FEMALE CHAMPIONSHIP’S RULES

  1. The rules and regulations governing World Championship fights, as adopted by the World Boxing m Association (WBA), will be mandatory and compulsory fulfillment in every fight to be sanctioned by the World Boxing Association (WBA).
    However in case there is conflict with any compliance provision mandatory by law adopted by national, state or provincial governments, or by national and local boxing commissions properly authorized, we will proceed to replace them.
  2. Each Championship contest will be schedule for ten (10) rounds, of two (2) minutes of duration and one (1) minute rest between rounds.
  3. The Ten (10) Point Must System will be the standard system of scoring the bout. All bouts will be evaluated and score by three (3) judges. Under any circumstance a round should be not score lower than 10-7. Partial rounds will be scored.
    Note: In case that in a 10-7 round there is a an illegal blow by the boxer who is losing the round the referee is entitled to apply the disciplinary mandatory point deduction. (10-7 less 1) = (10 -6).
  4. The Weight-in ceremony will be held the day before of date of the championship fight between the 4:00 and 8:00 pm,. The official scale will be at the disposal of the boxer with TWO (2) HOURS PRIOR TO THE WEIGHT-IN CEREMONY.
    • Female boxers shall provide a negative pregnancy test prior to each championship bout in addition to all the other medical test required by the local boxing authorities.
    • Female boxers shall wear no facial cosmetics and they should have their hair secured with a soft and non-abrasive material.
  5. The three (3) knockdowns rule will be in effect, excepting what is establish in article #1 of this document.
  6. There is NO standing eight-(8)-count.
  7. A boxer, who has been legally knocked down, cannot be saved by the bell in any round.
  8. A fighter who is hit with an accidental low blow, so determinate by the referee of the bout, must continue after a reasonable amount of time but no more than five (5) minutes. If the fighter is unable or unwilling to resume the fight after the referee order him to resume fighting shall lose the fight by technical knockout (TKO), because the protector deemed to be used by both boxers is considered sufficient protections for this case.
  9. FOULS:
    1. Intentional: If an intentional foul causes an injury, and the injury is severe enough to terminate a bout immediately, the boxer causing the injury shall lose by DISQUALIFICATION.
      If an intentional foul causes and injury and the bout is allowed to continue, the referee will notify the authorities immediately for in case the bout have to be stopped in later round, the injury boxer will win by Technical Decision if he is ahead in the score cards or the bout will result in a Technical Draw if the injury boxer is behind or even on the score cards.
      If a boxer injures himself while attempting to intentionally foul his opponent, the referee will not take any action in his favor, and this injury will be the same as one produced by a fair blow.
      If an intentional head butts causes and injury and the referee decides that the fight can continue, the referee will notify immediately to the authorities and deduct two (2) points from the boxer who caused the foul. Point deductions for intentional fouls will be mandatory.
  10. Accidental: If a boxer is accidentally injured and the fight cannot continue, or if the fight can continue and after in later round the same injury becomes worse and the referee have to stop the fight, the bout will result in a Technical Decision, awarded to the boxer who is ahead on the score cards at the time the bout is stopped.
    In both cases (Intentional or Accidental), four (4) rounds have to be completed. If four (4) rounds have not been completed then the fight result will be Technical Draw.
  11. The referee is the only person authorized to stop the fight and to decide whether a wound or injury was caused by a legal or an illegal, intentional or accidental blow.
  12. The Anti-Doping Test shall be mandatory in every World Title Fight sanctioned by the WBA, following the procedures established in order to obtain the sample.
  13. The boxers should only drink pure water during the event.
  14. PROTECTORS: Female boxers shall wear breast and groin protectors.
    All professional boxers are required to wear a mouthpiece during competition. The round cannot begin without the mouthpiece. If the mouthpiece is dislodged during competition, the referee will call time and replace the mouthpiece at the first opportune moment, without interfering with the immediate action. Points may be deducted by the referee, if he feels the mouthpiece is being purposely spit out.
  15. When a boxer in knocked to the canvas and is propelled through the ropes onto the ring apron, he will be given ten (10) seconds to regain his feet and get back into the ring. If under the same conditions a boxer propels through the ropes onto the floor, clear of the ring, he will be given twenty (20) seconds to get back into the ring and regain his feet, unassisted by any of his cornermen. Under these conditions, if he is assisted by cornermen, it may be caused for disqualification.
  16. The ringside Physician: The ringside physician may only step up to the ring, during the progress of the fight, when required to do so by the referee and he will give his opinion very discreet and shall avoid to make gestures or signal that could be erroneously interpreted by the public.
  17. If a fight have to be suspended before the end of the schedule numbers of rounds because of any unpredictable or accidental reason, the boxer who is ahead at the time the bout is stopped in the score cards, will be declared the winner by technical decision as long four (4) rounds have been completed. If four rounds have not been completed the result will be Technical Draw.
  18. GLOVES: Female boxers shall wear 8oz. gloves up to 147lbs. included, and 10oz. gloves over 147lbs.
    Bandages: The following norms are statutory for the bandages:

    1. The surgical tape shall be applied one (1) inch beyond of the knuckles of the hands. The use of the bandage will be free, as long as the previous step is fulfilled.
      From Minimum to middleweight division, it is recommended ten (10) to twelve (12) yards of one (1) inch in width of light gauze and six (6) to eight (8) feet of surgical tape of one (1) inch in width for each hand.
      From Super Middleweight to Heavyweight division, it is recommended twelve (12) to fourteen (14) yards of two (2) inches in width of light gauze and eight (8) up to ten (10) feet of surgical tape of one (1) inch in width for each hand.
  19. Supervisor: The supervisor appointed to act in a World Championship Fight is the personal representative of the president of the WBA. His duties are: To assist and help the local commission with regards to the handling of the fight, and to make shore that the rules & regulations governing the championships fights are complied with. He has full authority to take whatever step he may consider necessary to safeguard the good name of the WBA.

In consideration of your sanctioning contest, I hereby, for myself, my heirs, executors, administrator and assigns waive release any and all rights to claim for damages I may or might have against the WBA, it’s officers, directors or employees, for any injury or damage suffered by me during my participation in, and/or arising from traveling to and/or returning from the below listed boxing event.

I understand and agree that while the referee or the physician may be approved or designated by the WBA, neither is employed by the WBA. I fully understand that I assume all responsibility for any injury that I may incur in this boxing bout.
I have received a complete medical examination by my physician which indicates that I am medically clear to participate in this match and further indicated that I am free of communicable disease including, HIV and Hepatitis B.
I am not aware of any medical condition that would limit or prohibit me from engaging in this boxing match. In addition, I also understand that participation in boxing carries a risk to me of serious injury and with my full knowledge of these risks involved in boxing for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, next of kin, successors and assigns hereby waive and release the WBA and its officers, directors or employees from any and all claims, potential claims, damages, court costs and attorney’s fees that may arise in whole or part, directly or indirectly, from my participation in or as a result of this boxing match and I further indemnify and hold harmless the WBA, it’s officers, directors or employees from any such claim that I or my executors, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors or assigns may have or assert for damages, court cost and attorney’s fees with respect .
I hereby affirm I have read and fully understand the above. All of my questions have been answered to my satisfaction.
